Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A double preserve stand is a specialized dining accessory designed to hold two separate glass containers for jams, jellies, or marmalades. Popularized in the late Victorian and early 20th-century eras, these frames allowed multiple preserves to be presented neatly at the breakfast table.

These pieces were commonly constructed using a silver-plated or solid sterling silver metal frame combined with clear pressed or cut glass inserts. The mechanical components, such as self-opening hinged lids, were engineered from base metals coated in electroplated nickel silver to ensure smooth operation.

Authentic pieces from the 1920s often exhibit clean geometric lines characteristic of early Art Deco design, accompanied by makers marks or electroplate hallmarks stamped onto the underside of the frame. Mechanical components will show precise fitting, while glass inserts typically feature hand-cut or heavy moulded detailing matching the frame dimensions.

In modern settings, a silver-plated preserve stand functions effectively on a sideboard, kitchen island, or breakfast table to store condiments, sugar cubes, or small items. The contrast between bright polished metal and clear glass complements both contemporary minimalist kitchens and traditional dining spaces.

Glass inserts should be hand-washed separately in warm, soapy water to avoid thermal shock or chipping. The silver-plated frame requires gentle cleaning with a specialized silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish without stripping the underlying plate.
