Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Regency era.
The chairs have turned front legs and sabre back legs. The drop-in seats have been fairly recently upholstered in a red leather. Solid and sturdy, with good patina, would make wonderful desk chairs or side chairs.

These chairs were purchased from York Minster, and were in St Williams College. Founded in 1460, St William’s College is a Mediaeval building in York, England, originally built to provide accommodation for priests attached to chantry chapels at nearby York Minster.
