A pair of mid 19th-century Oak Library armchairs in the manner of A.W.N. Pugin. Made in solid English Oak with wonderful original colour and patina , Gothic Revival throne-armchairs in solid oak . Each chair is distinguished by a tall, arched back, upholstered in deep-buttoned soft leather, secured with decorative brass studs and generously proportioned with the seats designed for comfort.
The frames are carved with architectural Gothic motifs, while the arm supports terminating in bold scrolled volutes. The oak shows a superb colour and grain, enhanced by a mellow aged surface acquired over more than a century of care and use.
These unique armchairs would have been a commission order for a grand interior and they remain striking statement pieces, equally suited to a traditional home or a modern interior looking to make a statement.
