The goldwork on this piece is particularly noteworthy and impressive - exceptionally fine and with a centrally pierced design, it is exemplary of the high degree of goldsmithing of the era.
In spite of the fine gold mount, each part has been meticulously set with seed pearls, tapering in size and wonderfully contrasting the antique yellow gold tone. The striking central ruby which has a candy-like hue, draws the eyes to the centre and completes the overall look with a highlight point.
Furthermore, the reverse side presents a pin and bale which allows this lovely piece to be worn both as a brooch or a pendant necklace, offering versatility. Even the bale has been meticulously crafted with a folding and turning mechanism for when it is not in use.
