Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The top is made from a single piece of mahogany and features a slightly raised lip with reeded edge and a bracing bar underneath to strengthen it and give the depth for a screw fitting. The top unscrews from its column which in turn, unscrews from the tripod base. An ebonised and moulded collar fits above the base, through which the turned column passes and is secured in place by a threaded wooden collar underneath the base.

The lack of glue and the wear to this piece is consistent with this table having been made to be dismantled by design rather than simply being a constructional feature and hence a piece of genuine campaign furniture. A very useful and elegant small sized piece that would make a great lamp table.
