These plates were sold as functional tableware, yet their pristine condition shows they were never used. A rare case for Makeig-Jones’ designs—typically decorative rather than utilitarian—and exceptionally preserved, with prestigious retailer provenance. All six plates are double-marked — Wedgwood and special retail order for James Powell & Sons (Whitefriars Glass Works, London). Whitefriars were premier London glass and stained-glass makers who retailed Wedgwood in their showrooms and presented such ensembles at exhibitions of the period. Dual-marked examples are recorded in institutional collections (including the V\&A and the Museum of London) and are coveted by advanced collectors.

Condition: Excellent antique condition; bright lustre and sharp gilding.
