A Rare Pair of Engraved Georgian Silver Egg Spoons

Description

A lovely example of Georgian flatware, with a hallmark of interest to collectors. This delightful pair of spoons are egg spoons, rare in themselves and with the recognisable bowl shape. To the top front are vacant cartouches and the shanks are engraved with gorgeous acanthus patterns. The hallmarks are for 1815, where three variations were struck. This is the third version of the hallmark and dates 1st September - 28th May 1816. It is denoted by the flat base to the duty mark. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no serious dents or splits. One bowl has a small area of flattening to the centre, commensurate with age and use.
