A super quality Victorian solid sterling silver baptism spoon. It is hallmarked for London 1897 with the makers marks being JV. It has been very nicely designed with the terminal being cast in the form of St George and the Dragon possibly a copy of a much earlier piece as the bowl is engraved 1578. It is in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs, tiny black spot to the reverse gilding. It measures approx. 5 inches (12cms) long by 2 inches (5cm) wide and weighs 49 grams. A very well made piece.
