Mike Melody Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
We are dating it as 1760 but could be a tad earlier
The measurements are 69cms wide 53cms deep and 74cms high
The interior is lined which is its original lead sheeting and although battered is still intact.
This was used to contain ice from the ice house
Apart from one minor repair to the lid ( see pic).it is completely original.
A real country house piece with what can only be described as a superb patina and colour.
Cuban mahogany at its most magnificent. It glows as does the hardware.
