Antique Uzbek Kungrad Region Kilim Panel / Cover, Made in Four Strips, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 3ft 5in x 3ft 9in (105 x 115cm).

Antique Uzbek flat weave kilim panel or cover, from the Kungrad region.

Circa 1900.

This interesting kilim panel is woven in 4 individual strips that are then stitched together, each strip is decorated with different design in various embroidered of weft work techniques. Two of the strips have a double rams design which is embroidered, the two other strips have a banded design in a weft work technique.

A beautiful kilim that would make an pleasing wall hanging or could be used on the floor in a low traffic area.

The kilim is in excellent condition with a few signs of age related use.

An Uzbek Kungrad kilim is a traditional flatweave textile produced by nomadic and semi-nomadic weavers in Uzbekistan, recognised for bold geometric patterns and narrow strip-woven construction.
