Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the nineteenth century, cranberry glass was produced by fusing gold salts into molten glass to create a deep red hue. When paired with silver-plated frames, these decorative vessels were used to chill wine or champagne during formal dining.

These coolers typically consist of a hand-blown glass liner set into a cast electroplated metal frame. The metal framework was often decorated with chased or cast botanical motifs, such as grapevines and leaves, designed to encase the glass securely.

Genuine period examples display slight variations in glass thickness, a finished pontil mark on the base of the glass, and maker or electroplate hallmarks stamped onto the metal rim or foot rim. Natural oxidisation and light copper bleed-through on raised areas of silver plate also indicate age.

An antique wine cooler serves as a functional statement piece on a contemporary drinks trolley or sideboard. Beyond beverage service, it can be styled as a centrepiece container for floral displays or left unadorned to catch natural light.

Clean the glass liner with mild washing-up liquid and warm water, avoiding extreme thermal shocks. Preserve the silver-plated framework by wiping it with a soft cotton cloth and using non-abrasive silver polish sparingly to prevent wearing down the electroplated layer.
