Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French Boulle clock features a distinctive type of marquetry named after cabinetmaker Andre-Charles Boulle, combining cut brass inlay with tortoiseshell or horn over a wooden frame, widely produced in France from the 17th through the late 19th century.

Traditional Boulle marquetry utilises sheet brass inlays paired with red or brown tortoiseshell veneer, mounted upon a timber case and trimmed with cast gilt-bronze or brass ormolu mounts.

Authentic 19th-century examples display cast metal mounts with hand-chased details, hand-engraved brass inlay work, enamelled dial segments or full enamel faces, and brass mechanical movements stamped with French maker marks or serial numbers.

Place the clock centrally on a fireplace mantelpiece, sideboard top, or formal console table to serve as a focal decorative object within traditional, maximalist, or layered contemporary settings.

Keep the case away from direct sunlight, radiators, and rapid humidity changes to prevent the tortoiseshell veneer from lifting or cracking, and dust the surface gently using a dry microfibre cloth without liquid polishes.
