Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Low tables in China historically evolved from floor-seated dining platforms and raised daybed trays used during the Ming and Qing dynasties. As living habits shifted toward seated arrangements, these low proportions were adapted into tea and opium tables, which later influenced Western coffee table design.

Traditional Chinese tables were crafted from dense hardwoods such as elm, rosewood, or zitan, and frequently finished with dark lacquers or ebonised stains. They feature complex mortise and tenon joinery without the use of metallic nails or screws.

Authenticity can be determined by examining the underside for hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, floating panel construction on the table surface, natural wear along the leg bases, and hand-carved decorative aprons.

A low ebonised table functions well as a focal centrepiece in a modern living space. Pair it with a neutral-toned sofa, minimalist ceramic decorative objects, and textured wool rugs to create visual contrast against the dark finish.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners that can degrade the ebonised finish. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources or intense sunlight to prevent cracking or discoloration of the wood.
