Description

A very sweet Derby biscuit porcelain figure of Cupid sitting on a rock decorated with flowers and grassy tufts. Leaning against a small tree with bocage and holding a hooded falcon in his arm. Really stunning level of quality and detail to the modelling, from his chubby little legs, to the feathers of the bird and texture of the material strap in his hand. Incised 213 to the base. c.1770.

It measures 11.1cm (4 3/8") high and 6.3cm (2 1/2") by 5.8cm (2 1/4") wide.

In excellent condition: there has been a loss to a fine strap that would have draped between his hands and part of his left wind has also been lost. Otherwise, no damage, repair or restoration. The bocage has the usual small chips to the leaves. The flowers on the base appear in remarkably good condition. Very minor handling wear and no discoloration. It is also absolutely pristine, which is certainly not always the case with parian figures.
