Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Regency furniture, produced in Britain between roughly 1811 and 1830, is characterised by classical symmetry, clean geometric outlines, and refined architectural proportions. Designers of this era frequently incorporated rich dark hardwoods, particularly mahogany and rosewood, embellished with brass mounts and subtle scroll motifs.

Pieces from this period were predominantly framed in solid pine or oak and finished with high-figure mahogany or rosewood veneers. Construction features typically include hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, brass locks and escutcheons, and individual hand-blown glass panes secured with wooden astragal glazing bars.

Authentic Regency examples exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, irregular glass thickness with minor air bubbles, and original hand-sawn backboards. Inspect the drawer construction for fine, narrow dovetails and check for natural wear patterns along the drawer runners and drop-front hinge mechanisms.

A substantial mahogany piece serves as a strong focal point when set against light or neutral wall finishes. Combine the traditional timber casing with contemporary lighting, modern artwork, or minimalist ceramics within the glazed cabinet to create a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Position mahogany furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to avoid timber shrinkage and veneer lifting. Preserve the timber finish by applying a thin layer of natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing gently with a soft microfibre cloth.
