Artist Biography:
Thomas Matthews Rooke (1842–1942) was a British painter and architectural illustrator associated with the Pre-Raphaelite circle. He worked closely with John Ruskin and was commissioned to record European architecture for the St. George’s Museum. Rooke also assisted Edward Burne-Jones and created his own haunting and detailed urban watercolours. His works are held in museums and private collections, with key sales reaching thousands at auction.
