Fine Indo - Muslim Flintlock Musket/jezail, Extensively Decorated With Inset Brass And Mother-of-pearl Inlay, Complete With Afghan Stock C.1780–1820

A highly decorative Indo-Muslim flintlock musket dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. This elegant piece measures 135cm overall, with a 96.5cm Smoothbore octagonal tapering sighted barrel, retained by four brass barrel-bands.
 
The stock and forestock is finely inlaid with intricate mother-of-pearl decoration throughout.
 
The lock mechanism is of flintlock design, likely European in origin (possibly British or French), and retains its original components including cock, frizzen, and pan. The lock plate and furniture show hand-engraved foliate detailing in steel and brass, while the entire stock is richly ornamented with repeating floral and geometric patterns inlaid in white mother-of-pearl, a hallmark of Northern Indian aristocratic arms.
