ANTIQUE #SA1157391

Antique Saddle-bag Face, Qashqa'i Tribes, Fars Province, South-west Persia.

£450    $601    €526
The deep, indigo-blue ground comprises various symbols, including small, stylised quadrupeds and surrounds an ivory central lozenge depicting the typical Qashqa''i scorpion, outlined in red.

Made by Qashqa''i nomads circa 1880, it is sadly missing its flatwoven back. The face is in very good overall condition bar a tiny repair and the wool is sumptious - soft and glossy and this is better seen in the wool than from photos.
