In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Pembroke table is a light, versatile drop-leaf table designed in Britain during the mid-to-late eighteenth century. Named according to legend after the Countess of Pembroke, these tables featured two hinged drop leaves and a central drawer, allowing them to serve multiple functions in Georgian living spaces.

Primary timber was typically dense West Indian or Cuban mahogany, valued for its rich grain and stability. Secondary woods such as pine or oak formed the drawer linings, while decorative details frequently featured satinwood or boxwood stringing and cast brass hardware.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, original wooden wooden fly-brackets to support the leaves, rule-joint edges along the drops, and evidence of hand-planing on the underside. Timber should also show natural surface oxidisation and age-appropriate wear around the feet.

These adaptable tables work effectively as occasional side surfaces beside seating, compact hall tables, or bedside stands. Their drop-leaf functionality enables them to sit flush against a wall or expand to accommodate lamps and decorative objects.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and sudden humidity fluctuations to prevent the wood from warping or shrinking.
