Clara Montalba RWS 1842-1929.Landscape and marine painter born Cheltenham.Studied under Eugene Isabey in Paris for 4 years.Exhibited extensively including 196 works at RWS,62 at the Walker Art Gallery,Liverpool,45 at Manchester City Aty Gallery,49 at Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts,25 at the Fine Art Society,11 at RA. and elsewhere.Travelled in France and especially Normandy.However she felt most at home in Venice ,and lived there for many years,her principal works being paintings ,in oil and watercolour,of interiors and exteriors of churches ,shipping and views of Venice. ‘ Venice’ signed watercolour,dated 1897,image size 13x20 cms,framed size 36x43 cms
