Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bow rocker rocking horses gained widespread popularity in 18th and 19th-century Europe. Designed with long curved wooden rails, these items preceded the later swing-stand mechanism and were intended to simulate the motion of riding for children.

These items were typically constructed from carved solid timber, such as pine, oak, or beech, and finished with gesso and hand-applied paint. Additional features often included real horsehair for the mane and tail, alongside leather and brass fittings for the saddlery.

Authentic pieces display evidence of hand-carving marks, natural craquelure or chipping in the paint layers, and genuine wear along the underside of the wooden rockers. Hardware such as square-headed nails, hand-tacked leather, and aged horsehair also indicate period construction.

An antique rocking horse functions as a sculptural accent in a hallway, bedroom, or living area. Placing the item against a neutral backdrop highlights its silhouette, carved details, and historic surface patina.

To preserve historic paint, keep the item away from direct sunlight, radiators, and damp environments. Dust gently with a soft dry brush or microfiber cloth, avoiding water, chemical cleaners, or harsh waxes that could lift flaking paint layers.
