~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A superb antique French cartel wall clock by Charles Vincent. Of exceptional quality and elegant proportions, this fine Louis XVI style gilt-bronze cartel clock is richly ornamented with crisply cast foliate and classical motifs. The white enamel dial, with Roman numerals and finely pierced gilt brass hands, is set within a beaded bezel with convex glass. It is surmounted by a lidded urn with pineapple finial, flanked by laurel swags and oak leaf branches.

The case is further adorned with finely detailed acanthus scrolls and a mask of a classical maiden, emblematic of the neoclassical revival so admired in the late 19th century. A pierced trelliswork apron provides depth and lightness to the design.

The case houses a high-quality eight-day movement by Charles Vincent, striking the hours and half-hours on a bell. The movement has been fully serviced and overhauled, and is in excellent working condition, complete with its original pendulum. Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage. We have replaced the fabric with fresh. This is a distinguished and decorative timepiece, showcasing the craftsmanship and refinement associated with the finest Parisian makers of the period.
