DESCRIPTIONThis is a handsome George III period mahogany bachelor’s chest of drawers, circa 1770, of desirable compact proportions. Featuring a rectangular top with moulded edges that oversails at the rear, above a brushing slide and four graduated long drawers, all with oak linings and brass swan-neck handles with pierced backplates. The drawer fronts showcase beautifully figured flame mahogany veneers. The moulding on the left hand side of the top sits a little off-square at the front corner and the brushing slide runs a little stiff. The handles are period replacements. There are signs of minor, skilful restoration, including patches of veneer repair and a replacement to one of the runners for the brushing slide.
