Description

This charming PAIR OF VICTORIAN STAFFORDSHIRE BLACK AND WHITE DOGS date from circa 1860.

They have attractively gilded collars and padlocks and rather expressive eyebrows.

The DOGS are in good condition with no restoration.

The right side DOG has an old, small, surface chip to the bottom edge of his tail which is not seen from the front. There is a shrinkage line and underglaze star crack to the underside of the base which has been caused during the making. It appears to be where the potter has pushed the wet clay a little too hard. My thumb fits the indentation well
