Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The World is Made of Glass Ltd.

This is a Continental (these glasses are normally attributed to the Dutch), William III/Queen Anne period fa?on de Venise wine glass dating from the turn of the 17th/18th centuries, c1700. The glass has a very pale straw tint to the metal.

The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows the light age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with 300 years of use. The glass is so light that the wear is also very light. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.

The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on double merise and a fluted conical stem. The stem leads to a conical, thinly folded foot which measures 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter. The glass is 14 cm (5.6 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There are a couple of inclusions in the metal of the bowl dating from manufacture.
