A fine example of an early ''Bosun''s'' Persuader.....these collectable items were used by senior non commissioned naval officers to be used to keep sailors in line and to press-gang those men that were unwilling to join the naval service....this one is made of baleen covered thread shaft, which comes from the mouth of the baleen whale....it is weighted at both ends with lead and covered in fine thread on one end, as well as a central''turks head'' knotted pattern for decoration.... excellent condition from a private collector.English.
