An Unusual 17thc Original Carved Oak "Bible Box" with Drawer

Description

A very unusual original mid to late 17thc carved oak bible box with drawer.

C1660

Retains all original features including hinges/ lockplate etc

The lunette carving is original and the box has a good original colour and patina and is on unusual reeded feet which are also original

The interior is lined and painted, to protect its contacts.

It measures 73cms l 51cms d and 32cms h.

This obviously belonged to a person of some wealth .it is larger and more important than almost all bible boxes I have handled and sold.
