DESCRIPTIONThis is a pretty Dutch wall-hanging glazed display cabinet dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. The whole finely decorated with inlaid floral marquetry motifs typical of the craftmanship of the period, a single door opening to reveal a velvet-lined interior with two fixed, shaped shelves. The broken-arch pediment, detail of the marquetry, and elegant astragal glazing all reflect the refined tastes of late 18th-century Dutch interiors. An elegant survivor, this cabinet would have originally served as a display for porcelain or precious objects.
