Exceptional Leather Topped Table - Twin Drawers - c1860
This Oak Library Table Desk is a lovely piece and presented in exceptional condition.
Attractive hand carvings to the perimeter feature flowers, leaves, dragons and other beasts. The detailing marks the piece out as one of quality.
The table benefits from twin full depth drawers with hand carved facias.
The upper surface of the table has a moulded oak border surrounding a gorgeous new black leather skiver with gilt detailing and embossed tooling. The skiver is from a full calf hide and is a one piece fit which is another sign of quality (surfaces of this size are often covered in three pieces using smaller lamb hides for economy).
Overall this piece of furniture is in very good condition. The table is well constructed and very solid. The oak displays very well. It is rare to find an example in this order.
