Fine Japanese Meiji/Taisho (early 20thC) bronze horse on a marble base by Kozan Yamamoto, beautifully modelled and cast. Signed by the artist on the belly. Boxed. 29cm high x 33cm wide x 11.5cm deep, weight 5.35kg.
 
Excellent original condition with a nice patina.
 
Yamamoto Kozan (1892-) was the younger brother of the sculptor Yamamoto Junmin (1888-1962), both of whom belonged to the group of the most prominent and skilful metal workers in the early 20th century. Kozan was a student of the sculptor Okazaki Sessei (1854-1921) and a member of the Chukinka Kyokai (Association of Cast Metal Artists).
