Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An 18th-century quilted coverlet is a decorative, flat bed covering constructed from lightweight woven fabrics such as linen or cotton, decorated with hand embroidery, quilting, or needlework detailing characteristic of the Georgian era.

These textiles were primarily made from hand-spun linen or cotton base fabrics, stitched with silk, wool, or cotton threads. Batting or quilting layer fillings were typically composed of thin layers of raw cotton or carded wool.

Authentic pieces display subtle irregularities consistent with hand spinning and hand weaving, uneven stitch tension from manual quilting, age-appropriate wear or soft discolouration, and hand-embroidered heraldic symbols, monograms, or period floral motifs.

An antique coverlet can be folded neatly across the foot of a bed over plain crisp bedding, draped over an occasional armchair, or mounted securely on a wall frame as a framed textile artwork.

Store the item flat or gently rolled with acid-free tissue paper in a dry, temperature-controlled environment away from direct sunlight. Cleaning should only be performed by a professional textile conservator.
