N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The top of the case is then beautifully shaped with mouldings to the front and sides as well as stunning carving to the front. The body of the case is then square with butterflied burr walnut veneers to the sides and columns to the front. Finally the case has further mouldings to the base as well as four nicely shaped wooden feet.
The dial is then brass with a silvered chapter ring set out in Roman numerals and each five minutes being set out in Arabic numerals. The dial is then pitted to the centre as well as having lovely maidens head spandrils to each corner. Finally the dial is finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a bevelled glass set into the door.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is ticking away and chiming as it should and comes complete with its regulating pendulum and winding key. The clock then strikes one ting tang on the quarter past, two on the half past, three on the quarter to as well as the number of hours on the hour via two gongs. Finally the movement is signed “LENZKIRCH AUG 56 1 Million 259038” to show that it was made by the famous German maker Lenzkirch.
