Imperial Russian Porcelain Butter Dish by Kuznetsov, Bird-form, C.1880

Description

A rare and highly collectable Russian Imperial porcelain butter dish in the shape of a pigeon, manufactured by the esteemed Kuznetsov factory, c.1880. Features realistic hand-painted details in purple, pink, and blue, embodying both artistic finesse and functional design.

Kuznetsov was Russia’s preeminent porcelain producer, eventually supplying the Imperial Court. Pieces of this calibre are seldom available, representing museum-level Russian decorative art and a solid investment.

Stamped under base with the blue Imperial eagle and Kuznetsov mark.

Height: 12.7 cm, Length: 20.5 cm, Width: 10 cm. Weight: 442g.

Condition: Excellent antique state overall; note that there is a small, old chip on the inner rim of the lid that has been professionally filled and restored (see detailed photo). Please refer to photos.
