Description

An exceptional Sèvres porcelain plate, France, c.1785, hand-painted with finely detailed bouquets of garden flowers. The distinctive basketweave border (“corbeille”) is sharply defined—a signature element of Sèvres soft paste porcelain from the late 18th century. The reverse of the plate is marked with the factory’s emblem, confirming its authenticity as an original Sèvres work. There is a small hole at the back, made intentionally for hanging the plate as a decorative feature—customary for Sèvres plates in period interiors. These rare plates were commissioned for royal households and remain highly collectible.

Condition: Gilt edge with moderate wear; three restored spots on the rim; otherwise, very good antique condition, no cracks.
