Art Deco 2.57 Carat Unheated Ceylon Sapphire Solitaire Ring, Circa 1930

1920 - 1940
Description

A truly lovely Ceylon sapphire solitaire ring. The sapphire in the centre - certified as natural and unheated, and originating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) - displays a slight colour change: a rich, regal purple in incandescent light to a deep but bright blue in sunlight. The stone is secured in a six claw coronet collet which sits low to the finger, leading to a slender, fluted shank.

Accompanied by a report from Gemmological Certification Services (GCS) stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.

Cut: Cushion.

Colour: Blue in daylight; purple in incandescent light.

Clarity: Eye-clean.

Carat: 2.57.

Circa: 1930.

Size: L (UK) or 5 1/2 (US). Free sizing available.

Measurements: The sapphire is 8.3 x 6.6mm and sits 5.6mm from the finger.

Weight: 2.78 grams.

Metal: 18k gold. Tested with a Niton DXL Precious Metal Analyzer.
