Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Blue and white transferware is earthenware decorated by transferring an inked copperplate engraving onto tissue paper, which is then pressed onto the unglazed ceramic body before glazing. The technique gained widespread popularity in Britain during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, frequently depicting Italianate landscapes, architectural ruins, and floral borders.

Large ceramic meat platters from this era were manufactured from pearlware or creamware and often featured integral moulded drainage grooves sloping toward a collection reservoir. This functional feature allowed carved meat juices to accumulate cleanly at one end of the platter during meal service.

Period Spode pieces generally display impressed or printed manufacturer marks on the underside, such as Spode or factory batch numbers. Authenticity is further confirmed by the clarity of the underglaze cobalt printing, the weight of the dense earthenware body, and characteristic glaze pooling.

Large platters are traditionally displayed on plate stands atop sideboards, positioned inside glazed dressers, or mounted securely on walls as graphic artwork. The cobalt blue palette creates structural visual contrast against both neutral lime-washed walls and rich timber surfaces.

Earthenware platters should be washed gently by hand using warm water and non-abrasive liquid detergent, avoiding soaking or dishwashers. Exposure to rapid temperature changes should be prevented to reduce the risk of thermal shock and glaze crazing.
