Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The fiddle pattern is a flatware design originating in France during the eighteenth century, characterised by a broad handle shape resembling the body of a violin. It became widely popular in Britain during the Georgian and Victorian eras for both formal and everyday cutlery.

These spoons were predominantly crafted from solid sterling silver containing 92.5 percent silver, or electroplated nickel silver. Solid silver items feature hallmark stamps that indicate silver purity, assay office location, maker initials, and year of production.

Authentic British sterling silver serving spoons display a complete set of hallmarks, including the lion passant mark, assay mark, maker mark, and date letter. Genuine period pieces also exhibit natural wear along the spoon bowl heel and hand-engraved monograms.

Antique silver serving spoons can be placed alongside modern minimalist tableware during dinner service to create textural contrast. Alternatively, they can be displayed on a sideboard top inside an antique cutlery canteen or glass presentation case.

Wash silver flatware by hand using warm water and mild liquid soap, drying thoroughly with a soft cloth to avoid spots. Apply specialised silver polish sparingly with a soft microfiber towel to remove tarnish while maintaining the original surface patina.
