Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian wrought iron garden benches are defined by their hand-forged or machine-pressed iron frames, slatted seating, and decorative scrollwork. Popularised during the mid-to-late nineteenth century, they were crafted to provide durable outdoor seating for public parks and private country estate gardens.

These benches were built using malleable wrought iron straps and bars joined by rivets or bolts. The metal was hand-bent or forged into decorative forms, such as scrolled armrests and swept leg supports, producing a rigid framework supporting long seating slats.

Authentic period pieces display hand-poured rivets, layered coats of historical paint showing natural flaking or oxidation, and subtle irregularities in the forged ironwork. Modern reproductions often feature modern weld marks, uniform powder coating, and lighter alloy metals.

A Victorian wrought iron bench can be situated along a garden path, positioned inside a sunroom, or placed against an exterior brick wall to serve as a focal point. Paired with natural stone paving and climbing foliage, it adds historical texture to contemporary landscapes.

Preservation involves applying microcrystalline wax or linseed oil to exposed metal surfaces to inhibit moisture and further oxidisation. If paint loss occurs, brushing away loose rust flakes with a soft wire brush before applying a rust-inhibiting primer helps preserve the original structural integrity.
