Here we have a very rare item indeed in the form of a Burr Yew inlaid box with transfer printed top housing two separate pull out drawer sections, one being fully fitted out with sewing items including threads, waxers, spools, thimble, needle book, thread boxes etc etc and the other side a fully complete artist''s paint set with original twenty colour palette of unused paints all with their heraldic symbols still in place, ceramic mixing block, a Bristol blue glass water bowl, paint brush, glass pounce pot, items from James Newman''s 24 Soho Square, London etc etc.
Both Side sections open by removing brass vertical holding pins and have brass ringed handles and the box itself has two larger brass semi-circular carry handles, the interior of the main box has a sloping section for writing or painting and upon raising that a storage area beneath.
This is a very rare example of a combination box and it''s appeal is also heightened by retaining the original 200 year old unused paints.
