Description

A fine late 19thC French ribbon top ormolu glazed panel photo frame c1880. This was a classic fashionable design for photo display in late 19thC France, intended to place maximum emphasis on the photo. The glazed panel is 6mm thick with chamfered sides. It fits inside scooped base and top plates, with a ribbon surmount and ball feet, and is held in place by the adjustable easel back. The back is just to open the frame by simply pulling up the ribbon surmount. The frame also features a hanging pin. Once the photo is in, it is simply framed by the decorative ribbon surmount and ball foot base. In very good condition for age.
