Victorian Mourning Ring with Purple Glass Stones – 1850–1880
This Victorian mourning ring is centred with twelve purple glass (paste) stones, set in pinch-style settings. The stones are arranged in a cushion-shaped design, framed by a rose-coloured border, with brown hair woven into the centre — a classic and poignant feature of mourning rings.
The head of the ring, dating from the mid-Victorian period (1850–1880), was likely originally designed as a brooch before being converted into a ring. It is mounted on a later 9ct yellow gold shank, featuring split shoulders and decorative wirework.
