Fine French Bronze Parrot By Pautrot

£875    $1,178    €1,009
FERDINAND PAUTROT: an impressive and finely modelled bronze study of a parrot, perched on the branch of a large aloe vera plant. The parrot itself, with its long tail and wings flapping, has one claw raised above a butterfly that has alighted. Charming, lifelike and a typically animated sculpture by this renowned artist. 14ins (35.5cms) high; 11ins (28cms) wide.

** FERDINAND PAUTROT (1832-1874) was a French sculptor, known for his realistic bronze sculptures associated with the Animalier movement. He was known for his love of animals, particularly birds and his often dramatic depiction of animals. His career was relatively short-lived with a first recorded exhibit at the Salon in Paris in 1861, where he continued to exhibit until 1870. His works are inevitably highly detailed and accurate portrayals of his subjects.
