Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

George III style side chairs typically feature neoclassical influences, straight or tapered legs, square-back or subtle serpentine silhouettes, and high-quality hardwood frames such as mahogany. Upholstered versions often display close-studding with brass tacks along the seat and back rails.

Authentic period construction relied on solid mahogany or walnut for exposed timber legs and stretchers, combined with beech or pine internal frames. Upholstery materials included natural horsehair padding, jute webbing, coil springs, and woven textiles or leather secured with solid brass nails.

Look for mortise-and-tenon frame joinery, hand-carved details, natural timber patination, and stamped maker marks or brass badges on the inner seat rails. Maker stamps such as Howard & Co, London indicate high-standard historic reproductions crafted in the late 19th or early 20th century.

These side chairs can be integrated around contemporary marble or timber dining tables to create a curated contrast. They also work effectively as standalone accent chairs in bedrooms, hallway alcoves, or flanking an entryway console.

Timber elements require periodic cleaning with a soft cloth and conditioning with natural beeswax to protect the lacquer and grain. Upholstery should be vacuumed gently using a soft brush attachment, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading.
