Description

An authentic Meissen covered chocolate cup, Germany, circa 1780–1820. Hand-painted with full-color harbor views and rare puce chinoiserie figures, including Chinese scenes executed exclusively in this distinctive color palette. The lid is embellished with a sculpted flower finial flanked by two applied gilt leaves – an elegant hallmark of skilled Meissen craftsmanship. The cup and lid are framed by intricate gilt scrollwork, floral sprigs, and mesh-pattern borders, showcasing the factory’s excellence in decorative porcelain at the end of the 18th century. Underglaze blue crossed swords mark to the base. This is a highly collectible piece, combining refined technical execution with exotic thematic decoration – prized by serious porcelain collectors.
