A Bronze & Gilt Mantel Clock

19th century
Description

A fine quality, slim gilt and bronze mantel clock. The original bronze patinated case with gilt ormolu mounts and feet. Surmounted by a seated bronze winged cherub on a stool. A silvered dial with an intricate centre and 'moon' blued steel hands. A convex glass to the well detailed engine turned bezel surround. An 8-day duration mechanism with outside striking count wheel to a bell, 1/2 hour and hour strike. Signed E.D. to the mechanism and numbered 2717. Circa 1850.
