A Dutch Delft charger is a large, circular decorative platter made of tin-glazed earthenware, historically produced in and around the city of Delft in the Netherlands from the seventeenth century onwards.

These chargers are formed from local clay, fired once into biscuit earthenware, dipped in an opaque white lead-tin oxide glaze, and then painted by hand with metal oxide pigments like cobalt blue before a final kiln firing.

Authentic pieces typically feature a reddish or yellowish earthenware body visible beneath chips, characteristic glaze flaking along the rim termed fritting, pinholes in the glaze, and unglazed back rims with occasional maker marks.

A charger can be displayed on a plate stand atop a sideboard, integrated into a gallery wall of mixed ceramics, or positioned centrally on a mantelpiece to add historical texture and blue pattern accents.
