Description

Unusual little late 19th.c. French chest of drawers in birch with original painted decoration c.1890. Useful small size, just 35½" wide. Charming hand painted scene to the top featuring two robins amongst foliage with a light dusting of snow. Over four oak lined drawers, with internal dividers to the top drawer. Further painted decoration of botanical specimens to the drawer fronts and the cabinet sides. Flanked with turned and fluted columns, also painted. Note also the duck egg blue paint used to highlight the mouldings and framing the painted panels. Fluted centre to the front of the bottom drawer and repeated at either side below the columns. Raised on turned front feet. With some surface wear and a dark blemish to the veneer on the top. Otherwise good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
