Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

First Period Worcester porcelain, produced between 1751 and 1783 under Dr John Wall, is characterised by its soft-paste soapstone body, scale blue grounds, and elaborate hand-painted decoration featuring exotic birds, flowers, or insects contained within gilded reserves.

Eighteenth-century Worcester porcelain was crafted using a soft-paste body containing steatite (soapstone) from Cornwall, which allowed the vessels to withstand boiling water without cracking, finished with lead glaze, enamel paints, and gold leaf gilding.

Authentic pieces often feature a blue underglaze fretted square mark or crescent mark on the base, a subtle greenish transmission when held to light, characteristic scale blue ground patterns, and hand-painted detailing rather than transfer prints.

Antique porcelain pieces can be displayed inside glazed cabinets, arranged on shallow wall shelves, mounted on plate hangers, or styled as decorative accents on a sideboard top or mantlepiece.

Clean gently by hand using warm water and a mild detergent, avoiding soakings, harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or dishwashers, as these can strip overglaze enamel painting and gilding.
