Judy Fox Antiques has dated this Marquetry Serpentine Display Cabinet to the 1890s.

The glazed top section is surmounted by a broken-arch swan-neck cornice complete with a central urn. The central glazed door (lockable with original key) opens to access a shelved interior. The base section has a bank of 3 central drawers flanked by a pair of convex shaped end cupboards. All standing on four square tapering inlaid legs and terminating with spade feet.
Edwards & Roberts was founded in 1845, and had premises at 21 Wardour Street London.
They became one of the leading London cabinet makers and retailers working in a variety of styles, both modern and revivalist. Their business also involved retailing, adapting and restoring the finest antique furniture and there are many examples of their earlier antique furniture with later embellishments bearing their stamp. Edwards & Roberts specialized in marquetry, inlay and ormolu.
