ANTIQUE #SA1149497

A Scottish George IV Solid Laburnum Side Chair C.1830

£165    $224    €194
Scots Laburnum is a distinctive timber native to Scotland. It was prized for its resemblence to ebony and ability to take a high polish, It can also have some decorative figuring, (the top rail on this chair is a good example) and strong light/yellow stripes, see the back legs. Laburnum was grown on Scottish country estates specifically for furniture making, and principally, given the emall size of the tree, for making chairs.

Well presented condition and structurally sound. There is a small crack to the top of the r/h leg, see image.
